Well, I hope they last a while because I just bought 5 lbs of hops and I only made 5 beers this years which didn't even come to a pound total. But, I anticipate going all grain and brewing 10 gallon batches so I should use them. Now I need grain, anyone have a good cheap supplier?Cheers,Rich

You want to keep them in the freezer. I'd say vacuum sealing is your best bet of long term storage.

Cold, air-free and dark -- the best way to keep hops. In the fridge, they'll still last a while, but not nearly as long as if they're in the freezer. In Ziplock bags is good, but vacuum-sealed is better (I've even read of some people putting them in glass jars in the freezer.) And since most freezers are dark, that one should be covered already.

They store for a good long time. I used some centennials that were 3+ years old and not kept as well as they could have been. It turned out fine. The aroma/flavor had dropped off quite a bit, but there was still decent bittering. I'd say if you keep them frozen and well protected they'll keep the majority of their properties for 18 months and they'll be good for bittering long past that. One caveat is that if you are making a beer that requires a lot of hop aroma, you probably want to use the freshest possible or up the amount a bit if you use some older hops.
