Gotta love all electric. I have the timer set to kick on around 9:00 AM, come home late morning and mash in and start heating sparge water during a really short break. Back to work and then, off at noon and should be ready to start sparging when I get home.10 gal of Oatmeal Stout, not quite Quiet Storm, but loosely based on it. A little Chinook at 60, EKG at 30 and Willamette at 5. Probably 1.057 or so and 40 IBU's

Sounds tasty. Do report back.I'm hoping to use the slug of 002 that I get my mild off of to ferment an Obsidian-like stout. Weather on Saturday looks nasty. Maybe Sunday.

My last brew of summer this weekend. Brewing a pale with one of my favorite yeasts WLP510 and hitting it pretty heavy with the hops: bravo, perle, saaz and styrian goldings. It should be a nice reminder of summer during football season.

Was gonna try to brew tomorrow but weather might push it to Sun afternoon.I am brewing with my neighbor. We are doing a side-by-side brew of an 80/-. We are, as best we can, using the same recipes, and I am doing AG and he will be doing extract. Compare and contrast. Thought it would be a fun excersize. Plus neither of us have ever made an extract batch, so there is some learning there too.I wonder if anyone around here has any opinions on extract vs AG.*runs out quickly

Plan to brew on a day off tomorrow I am going to brew a Hop Bursted India Black Ale recipe that I formulated this evening. Never tried Hop Bursting and never brewed an India Black Ale as well. Posted the recipe in the swap. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Burning the paint off of a new burner stand under the brand new Blichmann Boiler Maker pot my wife bought me last week in Raleigh :sarcasm: . IIPA is the recipe today! BTW, anybody know why the pot came with a small (about 3" x 6") sheet metal plate that was sitting inside? I'm guessing it's to deflect heat away from the valve, thermometer, and sight glass- just not sure any of that is necessary though.
