I've finally unpacked my Blichmann beer gun today.  I disassembled and cleaned it.  I've attached the liquid and air hose and set the CO2 tank to 5 psi -----mostly foam coming out.  I then lowered the CO2 to 3 and the same.  Finally I've lowered even more and even with venting from the pressure relief valve on the keg, I get mostly foam.

what pressure was your keg at and it is cold?  If you have an overpressured keg venting the pressure relief needs to be done multiple times. If you pop it once it decreases the head pressure, but quickly the overcarbed beer re-pressurizes it.

yeah this.  got to burp the keg first before filling.

So I have vented the keg and starte at 2 psi at around 40 degree keg temp.  My accessory kit included a 10 ft line.  I put hose clamps on everything that could possibly be a source for air and still have way too foamy stuff.

 

I am giving up for today.

does the beer foam is you are pouring from a tap?  if not, then likely something with the beer gun. Are you pulling the trigger full out? Just like a tap if you restrict the flow it will foam. Do you see foam in the line before it reaches the gun?

Well I couldn't fix the problem.  I got the beer to come out slow and less foamy once but that is all.  I tightened all the connected and nothing.

I'm going to try a different 10 ft hose next weekend.

So I can't use another 3/16 hose?  If I have to use the hose in their accessory kit, I am screwed cause its messing up.

Of course. Just make sure it's the same ID as what it came with. Can't remember what size it is off the top of my head but it's pretty small.

My guess is you over carbed the beer. I've used the beer gun a whole bunch of times now and only have a problem if I over carb the beer. I'd burp the keg and wait a day, then try again.

Rich, if the beer is flat after purging and waiting a day with the tank of, will using the gun and putting CO2 into the bottle carbonate it back?

You would have to vent a lot for over carbed beer to go from over carbed to flat.

 

So when you were getting the foam was it filling slowly and foamy or quick and foamy.  ie. how long did it take to fill a bottle?

Way too quick even when I burped the keg and lowered the psi to 3.  Foamy and quick.

are you confident that your regulator is reading the correct pressure? I seem to recall you haveing major foaming issues when you set up your kegging system.

Freakin great memory!!!!! Not confident at all which is why I essentially turned it off and titrated up.

You will be amazed the difference in pressures between one of these and the gauge on the reg.
