Coming home last night I passed several places that had local honey signs in the front yards.I thought to myself, "Hmmmmmmm. I have an empty bucket. Why not dump in some honey...."What do you think?Is it easy?Pointers?

Oh yeah.....Yeast or just dump in 10 pounds of local blueberries?:frank:If yeast, what kind?

Take a run through the FAQs in this section, including High Test's, they should answer most of your questions. If they don't, plenty of people here to help. In a nutshell, yeah, mead is easy, but patience is required. When it comes to blueberries, depending on sugar content, I think in terms of 4-5 pounds per gallon. You could make a five gallon batch (kind of a standard amount) and siphon off two gallons on to the berries. Good luck.

Gallberry honey makes fine mead and $40 a gallon these days is not bad. Taste it first if you can.

How about the Milwaukee MA871 brix meter?

I don't know anything about that one and haven't looked it up, but my guess is that it costs more then the $20-30 refractometers a lot of us have gotten off eBay. You're looking for something in the 0-36 brix range

20 to 30 sounds way better then the 120 for the Milwaukee....I am shooting for the date of July 14-15 to take the leap...This gives me some time to get the yeast, refractometer, additions, and honey..I will also study up on fruit additions...I live in Blackshear Georgia...In this part of the state they grow blueberries.I will make this a blueberry mead.I will make one batch every other month for six months..I read about someone making smaller batches also.I will consider this after I make my first five gallon batch..The journey begins.......................:frank:
