didn't get onion from it, got bong resin overload

It's interesting, people perceive (or don't) different characteristics in beer, especially hop flavors and aromas. Gubna', to me and many others, has a strong onion/garlic flavor. But, I sat in the Tasty Weasel in Longmont and watched some people order multiple pitchers, while we couldn't finish the taster glass. It's so interesting to me that individuals can experience things so differently. Some are hop heads, some for the malty side. Some love the Belgian characters, some think they are just off flavors. And sours aren't for everybody. But, it's all beer and it's as varied and as interesting as people are.Palate Wrecker is really dank. I thought it was really good, but I wouldn't drink more than one at a time. That Citra looks interesting, one of the hops I usually really like. Looks like an interesting lot. Let us know what you think about 'em.

to be fair I have only had Gubna once, they are certainly proud of it! I might be less sensitive to that particular facet of hop aroma people refers to as onion or garlic, but I certainly can detect it in hops when they get left on the bine too long

I definitely get the dank onion/garlic in Gubna and also in Ska's Modus Hoperandum. Summit hops is what I thought of instantly.

The Alpine beers were very good, though not blow your sucks off. Pure Hoppiness was a big hop flavor bomb with a clean malt profile it also drank very well for a DIPA and is worth trying. Duet was a much gentler beer that though having nice hop flavors they were more subdued but quite nice, I could drink this beer all day. Citra on the other hand, wow! Amazing beer, here is my review from BeerAdvocate:Got this in a trade, and have been excited to try it as I love these Tropical Fruit IPA's.A: Slightly hazy yellow/orange beer with a great head and impressive lacing.S: Tropical fruits; Mango, Passionfruit abound incredible aroma on this.T: Everything it smeels like and more, nice clean malt profile that is just enough there while letting the hops(as they should be) be the star of this show. And what a show, low upfront bitterness but some much hop flavor it is amazing.M: Perfect carbonation level along with a solid but clean malt profile that allows the hops to do their thing.O: The best DIPA I have ever had, just ahead of fresh Heady Topper. Need to try it side by side with HF Galaxy and possibly rethink that.ETA: My BA score was 4.93, by far the highest grade I have given to a beer.
