Yes, but you're drastically increasing contact area, i.e. more beer is coming in contact with the hops.

I don't think so. Once all of the hops are in contact with the beer, no more contact is possible.

First of all, I'd never use pellets to dry hop if I could help it.

FWIW, there are several well respected pro brewers who feel that pellets are superior for dry hopping. There really is no right answer here. Some dry hop in the primary, some in secondary, some in the keg. Some feel more than 3-5 days is too much, some go 1-3 weeks, some leave hops in the keg for months. Some swear by whole hops, some by pellets. Experiment and see what method gives you the results you're after.

I did, which is why I only use whole hops.

When you guys dry hop in the keg, what type of hops do you use (i.e. pellet or whole leaf) and do you put the hops in a weighted bag?

Good question, im still a newbie at keg hopping. I tried some sterilized marbles and at some point a couple of weeks later as the keg more emptied i had all foam in my glass. I had to open it up and pull the hop sock up off the bottom. Then i finished the beer without it ( a gallon or so left) NOW i dont use any weights myself but do put the hops in first and they float to the top and i make sure i drown them in beer as i fill . I leave it in until the end of run, and have used both pellets and whole hops. I dont know if keg hopping is better than dry hopping, i just know if i don't like the taste of ANY beer i add Hops to the keg and it usually adds to the taste .
