Hydrometer, or Refractometer? My hydrometer looks like this:I measured the FG with my refractometer on some hefeweizen and freaked out. Then I remembered that the readings had to be compensated for the alcohol. Denny, that is a fantastic method. Just out of curiosity, couldn't you have re-calibrated the hydrometer using some distilled water? I know mine has an adjustment knob just for that purpose. Cheers,Rich

I assume you mean refractometer, Rich. I tried that many times in many different ways. I tried calibrating it to my hydrometer, even, but it was off the next reading I took. Being the pragmatic type, i figured that I had a cocktail shaker I didn't use....Denny, that is a fantastic method.
