Just curious if this is okay. The other question is if I've used it for beer can I use it for cider and once I've used it for cider can I still use it for beer?

I use plastic buckets between beer, cider, and mead. I wash really good after hoppy beers though. Better bottles, like plastic buckets, let a lot of O2 permeate, so only use it for primary. For anything longer than a month, I move to glass or SS.

better bottles are supposed to be a lot less O2 permable than the buckets but that could just be marketing. I soak all of my stuff in oxiclean/PBW so I think I get everything out pretty well. I'll use a BB for primary and then borrow a glass carboy for secondary I guess. is headspace a concern for secondary? do I need a lot of headspace for primary?

Depends on the nutrients in your cider, but you should only need a few inches, with a blow-off. Secondary headspace should be minimized, or with a layer of CO2

I'm planning on getting some fresh pressed and just letting nature take its course.
