MashleyJ: I ordered Best Malz pilsner and Weyermann Dark Munich. I forget now what the lovibond was but I think it was around 10L. I also ordered CaraMunich II which I believe is 45L. I have used CaraMunich II many times in 4-6oz amounts (for 5 gals) and it's very nice stuff when used in that amount. I also ordered fresh HM hop pellets and 2308 all from Rebel Brewer in TN... they have very good, fresh stuff and they ship quickly. I will post back when I put the final recipe together & brew this beer. Cheers!

I think you are going to have a real winner on your hands here. 2308 is actually the only lager yeast I've used and it will really go nicely in a beer like this :D when you order the yeast from rebel brewer do you get the ice pack? I see they have Wyeast 2782. I needs to be ordering some of that for this winter but I'm a little nervous about ordering yeast online. The only reason I'm considering it is I've already called the place I usually get yeast from twice and both times they haven't called me back about if they can get the yeast for me. I'm kind of pissed at them right now so I'm thinking about cutting them off.

Most places will add them if you buy one, I think it adds a buck. I buy a lot of yeast online and never had an issue.I agree Rebel is a good place, bought from them many times.

don't want to derail the thread but $10 shipping for one pack of yeast? that's a non-starter. :D

I did not add the ice pack this time. The temps have been a little cooler here and my plan for the 2308 is to smack it as soon as the pack arrives. I currently have 2782 up and running in a Czech Lager and I'm going to use it again in a Festbier/Amber Lager type of thing. 2782 is a great European lager yeast with a great character. Nothing gets me charged up to brew like making a good-looking lager recipe. MashleyJ, that yeast is available until September so search around and just order it. I do not have a local outlet for White Labs yeast so I have to order it online and I occasionally order Wyeast online as well (as is the case w/the 2308 I just ordered) and the yeast is always fine. If you're squeamish about it, order it w/an icepack. You can use 2782 for a lot of different beers and if you handle the yeast properly, you could use it all winter long for Czech Pilsners, Viennas, Festbiers, Bocks, Doppels and just about anything you can imagine. After the Festbier I'm making, I'm considering doing some sort of Czech-inspired Red Lager with it... Pilsner, some Munich, C120, Special B, all Saaz hops (or maybe some Tettnanger) and 2782. Ka-ching! Cheers Beerheads.

EDIT: DaveMcG: My Roselle B&G only has one version of Munich (Cargill) and it's 10L. They have been expanding their products nicely but not that nicely. Cheers.

I hit the one at Kedzie just north of Addison when I'm that far north. I figured they had the same stuff at each location.
