Odd that they would stop the SG scale at 1.020. Kind of a PITA.It makes sense, the brix side goes to 0, the gravity side stops at 1.020. I didn't say those lines were equal. Two scales on opposite sides of the view window.

I've almost got my mind right. I need to talk Brix and Plato with Drew so he doesn't have to back convert.Odd that they would stop the SG scale at 1.020. Kind of a PITA.

$20 from craigslist so I'm not complaining. Not really a PITA, I don't have trouble multipling by 4. The only thing I'm measuring lower than 1.020 is the final runnings off the mash tun. Once I get to 3 or 4 plato, I cut it off.Odd that they would stop the SG scale at 1.020. Kind of a PITA.

+1Why not just use your hydro for post-ferm gravity readings and use the refracto for pre-ferm gravity readings. Then you don't need to be concerned about conversion of values of your post-ferm readings. That's what I do. On brew day I get real time gravity readings with the refracto and once ferm is underway and temp (and time) isn't so much of an issue I use the hydro.
