I've had it - it's good. Classic English pale ale (or special bitter, not sure of the category). Definitely worth picking up if you like the style.

I've seen it for years, always wondered if it was a good brew or just some advertising shtick. Thanks for the review.

Wasn't a big fan...I thought it was gimmicky and bought it soley for the gimmick. I didn't remember anything crazy or stand out with this beer...here's my ratebeer comments:

Smells like burnt witches. Tastes like burnt witches. Could use a little less burnt witch.

They have it all the time at a local beer joint and I've yet to try it. I think its a Special Bitter. The local place runs a glass of the month and they have this once a year in a comically ornate goblet. I think its all marketing.

I have seen this beer before somewhere on the internet. Never seen it in person but always have thought it was a gimmick and probably crappy beer. Maybe it could be worth a try sometime if I ever find it in person. The website says this beer is commisioned to commemorate the 30th anny of Monty. Hmm thats only one year and I swear I heard of this beer longer ago than that. Wonder how the other offerings are like?

Black Sheep BreweryMarketing schtick or not, I think it's decent. It's not as if it's "Triple Hops Brewed", has "Drinkability" or the label turns blue... now that's true marketing BS. Their Riggwelter and Black Sheep Ale are pretty tasty too (IMO).
