Yes, but that's each leg. Actually it's a little more than 3". I just measured mine and with the wheels turned in it's just a tad shy of 24". Even though you can turn the wheels in and save a little space, you really need about 24" to get it in there. You might could set it in cat-a-corner and get by with something a little smaller. That's the main reason I went on a hunt for a coke cooler. They aren't cheap, but Craigslist is a good source. I ended up finding one 6 months old from a BBQ joint that went out of business. It was 5 bones but considering they are 3x that new I grabbed it. Still has a little warranty left on it.How many inches do the casters add? 3" or so?
