Just itchin to get a good session brew down so I don't consume the other delicious ones toooo quickly. Also using hops I have on hand and mostly 2-Row to keep the costs down...though I looooove the brews that I spend $30 plus on the hops alone....it's nice to brew 6 gallons for $15 every now and then.10 lb Pale 2-Row1 lb Aromatic Maltsingle infusion mash @ 154 df45 minute boil2 oz Centennial @ 202/3 oz EKG @ 5Nottingham Dry YeastGoing to try a 45 min boil this time since I am adding no 60 min. addition and the utilization of the cents won't suffer. Here I go to pick it up, be back soon!Shootin' for about 1.050 OG and about 25 IBUs but hopefully a good dose of hop flavour and aroma.
anyone brewing today?

Drew that Maple Imperial sounds very interesting. No brewing here just went to the LHBS to get two packs of 3068 as this friday will be brewing a 10 gallon batch with a buddy of German Hefeweizen. Earthone. I would be really interested to see how your brew today turns out and what you think. I have never brewed a beer without a 60 minute charge at minimum but I am interested in trying a late hop only brew sometime though too. Keep us posted.

strike water is heating, the recipe ended up being just a smidge different - 2 lbs aromatic instead of 1 lb and a little less 2-Row.I will keep you posted ncbeerbrewer, I am curious myself. I really just want a beer with good hop flavour but with fairly low IBU's....something very quaffable.

I just did 10 gallons of my Oktoberfest. I'm splitting the batch between 5 gal of 2206 and 5 gal of the Wyeast Octoberfest blend (2633). For the first time ever, I made the amount of yeast that Mr. Malty's calculator suggested (I've made starters for a while, but I've never used the calculator to figure out what I need), and used my stir plate for the first time.I've got about 3 more German styles to brew in the next 3 months to have them lagering in time for my party in September!aaron

woohoo 7 gallons in pot with a preboil OG of 1.030 - 1.046 corrected for 60 df. That means my eff is back where it should be, that last batch definitely was an oddball.... I think it was the crush but I guess I'll never know. It'll still be good beer I am sure.scooter, that sounds super tasty. Are all three german brews going to be lagers? I've been meaning to get some of wyeast's german ale and try a munich malt heavy ale... no lager setup yet.
