Rye Stout. Beautiful brew day - hit my numbers, 2 hours later and I'm seeing the burbling...made some beer cheese bread. Life is good!

Woot woot!I just finished cleaning up. That was my first no-problem all grain brew day!!!!My volumes were finally perfect, my OG was perfect 1.050, everything went exactly as planned. From start to finish pull out to tear down was exactly 5 hours. I feel good. Only thing that was annoying was my chilling. It took forever for the siphon to start due to air pockets. I really want a brew stand that I can roll out there and back that uses pump(s). That would speed things up a lot.Cheers,Rich

Glad to see I'm not the only brewing an Oktoberfest this weekend. Will do 5 gallons on Sunday. Using the yeast cake of WL 830 from my Helles.Jeff

5am... Getting ready to mash in to brew a Hefeweizen. I've made a few hefe's, but this will be my first all-grain one. I've always done extract before. This is my third brew in three weeks after coming back to brewing. Jim

Congrats Rich. Yes it sounds like you just had to work through the all grain learning curve. You should smooth sail from here. I am sure it feels good to have a great brew day like it sounds you did. Don't worry chilling up here sucks as well in NC. I dont do pumps but IC method sucks this time of year. Hope the ferment goes well. Mike

Yes Jeff I felt like I was a bit late on this one this year too but this 10 gallons is for a festival I am pouring in at the end of October so I think I am still alright. I still wanna brew another 5 for myself but we will see how it goes in the coming weeks. I am fermenting with Wyeast Munich Lager 2308. CheersMike

Thanks! I tried filling the line with starsan and sumping it to create the suction, but it didn't draw enough out of the keggle. I think I need a pump. I'm trying to convince myself of that. :frank:Cheers,Rich

OK got a late start today but 5 gallons of Heiliges Stefans Oktoberfest is now in the fermenter and cooling down to pitching temp overnight. Will pitch a slurry of WL 830 in the morning.

 looks like Octoberfests win. I did a small (2.5 G) extract batch that is in a Mr. Beer fermenter now. I only bought the fermenter because it fits into a cooler. That's the only way I can lager until I get another fridge and temp control.
