I bought a jockey box at a yard sale last year for $20 and it included the tap, cooler and an aluminium cold plate. I'm not quite sure how to clean this cold plate because i've heard some cleaners have a bad effect on alumininum. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on how to clean it. Cheers,LD

All of the cold plates that I am aware of use a stainless line inside of the aluminum plate. I use BLC (beer line cleaner) to clean cold plates when I first get them, and then flush with star san, sometimes with a prolonged soak then flush with starsan. This is also how I test to see if the cold plate can hold pressure and find any leaks before I actually use it.

I have always been a fan of boiling before you start; do whatever you want in between, boiling water at the finish, and then a blast or two of co2 to blow the moisture out.
