I've actually dry hopped a beer with both of those at the same time. For a 5 gallon batch I used 2oz of cascade and 1oz of magnum. I dry hopped in the keg and left them in there until the keg kicked. The beer maintained a nice aroma all the way through.

I think it adds something but I mostly used it b/c it takes me a LLLOOONNNNG time to go through magnum. 1-2oz of it is usually plenty of bitterness (60 min addition) for a 5 gallon batch.

Yea I don't pick up anything from Magnum other than a little bit of grassiness, maybe a little herbal note...Love them for bittering since they are so clean...

so I guess I'd refine what I said with - if you have a lot of magnum sitting around why not throw some in. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it for dry hopping by any means though.

Well then it's your question...do you really need to use up the Magnums or do you want that great cascade aroma.

I would think 2-3 weeks might be about right.

I am in the group that says more than a week then the aroma/flavor imparted gets a little too grassy. Some disagree though, and some will stagger dry hop additions for this reason.

I left some pellets in a keg for months and it went through a grassy phase early on but then it smoothed out and maintained a nice amount of hoppyness.
