Pffft...who needs to dye their beer green for St. Patty's day...ours just comes out that way.Awesome!A five gallon IPA I just put on tap has more than 2lbs of hops in it from beginning to end (dry hopped with more than a 1/2 lb - the secondary keg lid was leaking green foam).

That is a lot,(and i have been accused of being a hophead)what is the most you have put in one beer? and are you using pellets/leaf or combo? The next four beers in my brew queue will consume over 4.5 pounds of hops.

I think the APA and IPA coming up will easily have more hops than any beer I've made yet. I've made a lot of hoppy beers, but I've never really killed it on the late hops. accordingly, I've never really been happy with the hop aroma/flavor in my beers. I'll be going big time on the late hops in these batches. That is a lot,(and i have been accused of being a hophead)what is the most you have put in one beer? and are you using pellets/leaf or combo?

10 gallon batches?so a little over 1/2lb per 5 gallon batch. I've used 12oz in a batch of AIPA (I think you even had some). The next four beers in my brew queue will consume over 4.5 pounds of hops.

wasn't it Jimvy that posted the pics on the greenboard with 5-6 lbs of flowers in what was supposed to be 5 gallons? When I brewed the HOPocalypse it had something like 26oz of hops that yielded i think just under 4 gallons, which sent CJ and Jimvy into an epic arms race. Pinball Blizzard Rye IPA had a pound of hops per five gallons, and was enough to be about the most problematic (but popular) brew MBC ever released. But, Dead Flowers Double IPA had about the same rate as the HOPocalypse, but I only made a fraction as much.Have fun!

Yeah, that was me. El Diablo had 6# of hops, but that was for a 10g batch. Unfortunately, I used all leaf, and I only got about 6g of beer out of it....though it really did turn out to be a nice beer.wasn't it Jimvy that posted the pics on the greenboard with 5-6 lbs of flowers in what was supposed to be 5 gallons?
