Anyone ever seen one? I'd rather weld the coupling to the kettle than use a locknut to secure the element.

An NPT one is available from McMaster, but it's not a very good fit to the threads. The 1" stainless locknut (4464K586) could also be welded on the outside for a perfect fit.

A lot of people don't believe this, but you can tap a keggle to fit an element. Other than that, you could just cut a full coupling in half.

PM Swagman. He knows all this stuff. He welded one onto a electric Mini Herms for me years ago.

I had a coupling welded to my Al kettle and use an Al locknut on the Sanke EHLT. Honestly the element is recessed too much where it enters kettle for easy cleaning because of the coupling - just setting up the electric brewery and didn't think/know it would be a little problem. The EHLT has been fine from day one however many years ago that was. It's covered with white precipitate (the locknut on the Sanke EHLT). I think I've taken it off once to clean it. I think a welded locknut like George suggested would be fine.

I got it from a plumbing store. I can't recall the name of it but if you really need to know I could probably fond out. I know where it's at, just not the name of it. IIRC, they ordered it from their warehouse in Atlanta and it arrived next day. I want to say they were around $4 a piece.

Thanks, I'll check a plumbing supply place and see what they say.
