I thought about a dbl brew day 2 weeks ago but decided against it. I would do dbls on the regular, but w/ the loss of a burner (stolen) I just cannot devote the added time unless I started early, say in the AM time frame. Plus my Sabco needs better cooling than the carboys, my wife won't let me put the 15 gal fermenter in the garden tub so i need to fix my cooler.

I actually brewed up 3 yesterday (DIPA, Belgian Blonde, and an amber). Started at 8am, finished at around 4:30. Also bottled a 5 gallon batch and cleaned two kegs. Was exhausted at the end, but if I'm gonna brew - I prefer to brew at least two batches in one setting.

Does a partigyle count as a double batch, or is that cheating?

I wouldn't consider a partigyle to be a true double batch since you are sharing the mash.I may do a double batch today, and since I have two burners (heated hlt), it will make things go a bit more smoothly, though having a third and an extra kettle like cheflamont said, would make things more efficient. I don't do double brew days often enough to warrant that though (and I also generally don't need 20 gallons of just one beer, I have a hard enough time with consumption of 10 gallons of beer).

As much as I hate cleaning up and putting all of my equipment away, I'm going to try to stick with double batches from now on. It's very much worth a couple extra hours.

I did 3 10g batches on Monday. I normally do 2, so it's not a huge leap, but it ended up being a lot more tiring than I expected. Took about 9 hours all said, but of course, I kegged 20g too, plus much cleaning...it was a workout!
