When did you add the LME? I wouldn't risk the stir myself, especially since the fermentation is going to help get eventing homogeneous. others may have a differing opinion of it though.I brewed on May 26th and had pretty bad efficiency so I added some LME. Should I hope it all got mixed in or should I give it a stir again today? I don't know when you've kind of reached the point of no return as far as introducing oxygen to the brew.

I don't get why he didn't add the extract the moment he knew his gravity wasn't where he wanted it (presumably before fermentation started).I don't think it would hurt to swirl without opening. I'd be hesitant to open it up and really whip it around at this point though. Did fermentation pick up when you added the extract?

I think there are two considerations with O2 - when it's added and how much. After fermentation has begun I think you probably run more risk of harming your beer by introducing oxygen, so at this point I'd do like what was recommended and swirl if anything. Probably you don't have much to worry about. Did you dump in straight LME or did you boil it in some amount of water first? How thick was it?I brewed on May 26th and had pretty bad efficiency so I added some LME. Should I hope it all got mixed in or should I give it a stir again today? BUI ?? Relatively new brewer - at least he caught it. Not everyone wants to spring for a refractometer. One of the best $ spent for me. I almost always take a preboil reading - usually a waste of time at my place but not always.I don't get why he didn't add the extract the moment he knew his gravity wasn't where he wanted it (presumably before fermentation started).

It was my 3rd all grain. I finished at night and added it the next day since I had to go buy some.I don't get why he didn't add the extract the moment he knew his gravity wasn't where he wanted it (presumably before fermentation started).
It was thick, but I poured slow and stirred well.I think there are two considerations with O2 - when it's added and how much. I agree with DJ - it'll be fine. Pour a cold one and don't worry about it. If when you rack it you find a huge glob of extract in the bottom I'll be surprised. It was thick, but I poured slow and stirred well.

I keg bro!Sounds like you did all you could. I wouldn't worry about it.brewing Friday PM here probably, assuming the starter co-operates............ I would try to make sure it's done fermenting assuming you're bottling.
