Okay, kidding. But you guys know that this is my kind of beer. I was down in Champaign this weekend for my son's baseball tournament and some of the Dads went "shopping" before it all started. I found myself staring at a huge Hummer-sized pile of commercial beer boxes, all ready for the Memorial Day weekend. I picked up some Leinie Classic Amber (nice) and also some Blue Paddle Pilsener Lager by New Belgium. I had never heard of it because I rarely buy commercial beer anymore. But this is exactly what I have in mind when I make a "gold lager". Smooth, satisfying, noble hops, Czech lager yeast, etc. Nothing too over-to-top but still interesting to me. No, it's not Sam Adams Noble Pils by a long shot. How long has this beer been around and when did New Belgium start browsing my site for recipes? :smilielol:

I have seen it around for the last 4-5 years...I believe it's their summer seasonal...the stuff is great, very good for a hot day.

It's one of these beers that occupies a sort of middle-ground, I think. It's not overly watery like a standard American Lager and it's not over-the-top so the wimpy beer drinkers would cringe. I plan to look for it at my local Binnys and I also have 3 bottles left from the weekend... I just remembered that I put them in the fridge when I got home. Ka-ching! Cheers.

One of my favorite domestic pilsners, great summertime beer. You can get it everywhere around here.

Blue Paddle has been around for quite a while. It's a great domestic pils, IMO second only to Victory's Prima Pils.

Wow, If it's anywhere near Victory's, I gotta get my hands on some!
