Hey all,I'm heading over to New Orleans for a couple days and I was wondering if anyone knew of some good spots to hit up. I'm going to be staying in the Warehouse (Arts) District. I'm open to anything that would be really cool, beer preferred!

On Magazine St. find the Bulldog. It's not far from the Warehouse Dist. Also, one of the best areas of town for music is Frenchman St. in the Faubourg-Marigny. D.b.a. is a great place and has an excellent beer selection. Uptown, the Maple Leaf on Oak St. is a great place for music but the beer selection is poor. Check out Offbeat magazine for listings of who's playing where and when. If you have any questions about local bands, let me know. Unless you just want to do it to say you did it, avoid the Quarter.

Yea, My girlfriend stayed in the French Quarter last time. This time we're thinking about seeing the sights and stopping at a pub. We might be going to Abita if her uncle wants to take the drive. Thanks MtnBrewer!EDIT: OH! Are there any good beer bottle stores so I could bring stuff back with me?

He's a month or two away from having to worry about hurricanes.

Try the Whole Foods on Magazine. It's not the best selection but it's the only place I can think of right now. To be honest, the beer selection in NOLA is not the best, and that's being kind. What would you expect from the land of Dixie Beer?

Hey now...I just did a review on Dixie beer today on my blog...I actually enjoyed it for an adjunct beer.

d.b.a. is my favorite place in NO. Has the best beer selection and best music. One that I forgot to mention is Rock 'n' Bowl. Yes, it's a bowling alley with a music stage. Only in NOLA. Snug Harbor is another one in the Marigny that has great music. Actually all those places in the Marigny have excellent music.Walter "Wolfman" Washington is playing at d.b.a. tomorrow night at 10. Joe Krown is playing at Rock 'n' Bowl at 8:30. Johnny Sketch is at the Maple Leaf on Friday. Now here's a reason to go to the Quarter: James McMurtry at One Eyed Jacks on Saturday. And then Sunday The Joe Krown Trio (featuring Walter "Wolfman" Washington and Russel Batiste, Jr.) will be at the Maple Leaf.

BeerAdvocate.com has The Avenue (1732 St. Charles) rated as the best beer bar, Stein's Market & Deli (2207 Magazine) as the best beer store and Crescent City Brewhouse (527 Decatur) as the best Brewpub. There's also a Gordon Biersch at 200 Poydras.

We've been to Crescent City a few times. Average at best, but what the hell if you're walking right by it anyway.......

Agreed and ditto for Gordon Biersch, which is right around the corner from the casino.

From the Harris? I'm actually chilling at the Renaissance right now, which is right around the corner. I went out for a sixer of Abita and they totally screwed me on it. They practically doubled the price! I'm gonna look around and see if I can find a better place to get some beer. I also found a little brewpub right across from the French Market. I didn't go in, but I'm planning on going back either tomorrow or the day after. Thanks for the advice guys!
