Now this makes sense.MolBasserNo mold evident on the spray bottle. I just threw that away on general principle. The mold was on the lid of the gallon wine jug I keep working-strength starsan in before I fill up the spray bottle.

Who knows what else was growing there in addition to the mold you saw. Glad you found the source of your problem. Based on your observation I have zero doubts that you indeed had mold and/or bugs colonized on your jug and were transferring them into your brew. Anyways, enjoy the bug-free brews! cheers

I finally got around to washing out a few primary buckets that had been sitting around in my basement, full of strong Oxy solution. The lids were just set on top and when I lifted the first one, I found a nice ring of black mold starting on the top lip of the bucket and lid. Just a little more encouragement not be be lazy about the cleaning regimen.

Yea, the lid on my PBW bucket sometimes gets the same way. Time to mix up a new batch and break out the scrub brush.
