I've never substituted so not sure if there is something around the house you can get away with. I do know that black tea is one of the more tannic tea's however. One thing to keep in mind is that not all tannins are created equal. Grape tannins, tea tannins, and oak tannins will all contribute something different. In wine musts if it needs a little kick or drying effect if it's a red then I'll use grape tannin. If its flabby I'll go for oak tannins. Very much a personal preference in what you like in wines.Going to make a peach wine, recipe calls for 1 tsp wine tannin, Somewhere i thought it was mentioned to use a tea bag? as a substitute. or what can be used instead?
