Anyone have any experience with TF Halcyon Malt? What are your thoughts? I usually use MO or Golden Promise for everything except lagers, and I don't think I've noticed much difference, though I never did a side by side comparison. Will I be able to tell a difference between Halcyon and MO or GP?I just ordered 55 lbs of this stuff. I hope it's good.

It's good but I don't think you'll notice much difference between it and MO. I think GP is slightly maltier but nothing drastic.

I've used all 3. To my palate, there's not much difference. Compared to North American 2-row all 3 are maltier and I usually get a little better mash efficiency. Worth the $$ IMO if you use it in recipes where it will shine.

I used Halcyon and Optic in a Barleywine years ago...I'll have to get into one to refresh my memory. But, I recall it coming out very nice.

Yeah, left it there after I posted - figured you would jump on it.Posted Image Actually, expected yield aside, when I use tastybrew's calculator I still get a few more points than it predicts with UK malts. Could be that their numbers are off for grains this year.Yeah, I know. Buy a program so I can change values or get out the Big Chief Tablet and do it myself............
