not quite dark enough....This was a pumpkin ale with moderate gravity, malty and not too much hop...but they wanted me to also say what style i turned into the pumpkin...and I gotdocked points b/c i didn't.Is it dark enough to be a Scottish ale?I think a pumpkin beer is good with a moderate gravity, malty ale with not much hops.

How do it taste like pumpkin? The hops? I don't know much about flavor for hops or Special B and I'm too lazy to look it up. usually the pumpkin flavor is actually just pumpkin pie spice mixtures which most people associate with pumpkin. Some people also add in pumpkin pie filling (from the can). I don't think there are any hops that taste like pumpkin. Special B tastes like dark crystal with some flavors that I can only describe as slightly raisin-like mixed in.How do it taste like pumpkin? Exactly, this recipe and how I added the pumpkin actually did come through in the beer. I was pretty happy with the result because I tried a different way to do it than I had read or done before. I guess if I submit this to a comp again I'll have to write down a style so they can judge of of that....I will probably use blonde or Bitter as the style, one of the judges said "maybe blonde?" on the notes, i just dont see it.usually the pumpkin flavor is actually just pumpkin pie spice mixtures which most people associate with pumpkin.
