So, after defrosting, cleaning and soaking all the hardware and hoses in caustic for like 2 days, I put the 'ole keggerator back together.I've got a cylinder of Wood Aged Old Ale in there right now and just waiting for the hoses to chill and such before I pull my first snifter.MolBasser

If you stay with natural carbing, you "might" wanna cut a 1/2 inch or so off of your liquid diptubes.

congrats on the Old/RIS ale though, I may have to look around at the local taprooms and find out if it is being served up here.

Meh, the first beer or two will pull some gunk but it will disappear right?I don't plan on doing it this way forever, hopefully only a few more months.Cheers,Rich

no regulator, just a 16 gram charger (w/spares) so I could damage things pretty easily.Maybe I should cold crash it in the fridge (in carboy) before I rack the beer onto the sugar for carbing, that way I dont get as much gunk.Cheers,Rich

My reach-in lost its charge after I repaired the condensate pan. Ive been trying to get an refridgeration guy to come in and fix the leak then recharge it for me so I have been sad :stabby: no homebrew for me. And I hate bottling  :sarcasm:

Not sure how you mean. I have only bottled so far, this is my first attempt at carbing in a keg. My process is, rack to bottling bucket with corn sugar and bottle. I leave the bottles in the closet or a couple weeks and wahla, I gots carbed beer. I keep my primary in a swamp cooler at around 64 degrees for 3-4 weeks, no secondary. Usually after about 3-4 days in the fridge the bottles clear up nicely and I have clear beer, but there is always a little gunk at the bottom of the bottle, no biggie. If what you mean is to cold condition the primary (or secondary) before carbing then no I haven't done that, but that's kinda what I had in mind for the keg. Cheers,Rich
