I just bend mine a little so they are up and out of the way. No tools needed and you can easily get the clearance you need, and can bend them back. You wouldn't want someone to snip your diptube, would you?

Fresh cut metal will expose a surface that is not passivated. You should treat the surface per John Palmer.Granted, it is a small surface area and doing this is not mission critical. But it is a simple procedure, so you might was well go ahead do it.zymot
