So, after much barrel aging, and a blend with some scotch ale, my RIS that I brewed a year ago is being released. The blend is called Sierra Nevada Old Ale.ABV is 8.4 with the blend.I had some in sensory today, and dang! It is good. If you are going to the big beers and barley wine festival in Colorado, it will be there. Otherwise, lean on your distributor to get a keg to your local watering hole. It is a VERY limited release.Nick, another brewer, is the creator of the scotch ale that it is blended with.MolBasser

Sounds great! Did you get to play a role in the blending process?

Basser -- congrats! It's always fantastic when your own creation is released -- of course, your "VERY limited release" is probably ten (or more) times larger than our regular releases. :smilielol:

I think this was around 20ish barrels. So that is a very limited release for us. That can't be much more than what you guys do.....Can it?MolBasser

Our regular batches of our year-round beers are a WHOPPING 8 barrels -- which means even if we do a double batch, it's still smaller than your very limited release. :smilielol: And just for comparison, our seasonals and one-off beers range from 1.5 barrels to 8 barrels. Our next brewery will be 30-40 barrels -- can't wait! :smilielol:

Welcome any time! You'll get first-class treatment -- and hopefully some first-class beers as well. Once we get closer to our next expansion, my boss (and maybe me) are planning on visiting numerous breweries around the States, and yours is one on our list. Hopefully that won't be too far in the future (target is within two years).

I really don't know right now -- it's all up to the Big Boss. Both decisions are up to him -- where we visit and whether or not I get to go. After all, someone has to brew the beer, and there are only four of us in the company (two that can brew on our "big" system). But, we will be concentrating on breweries that are using environmentally friendly techniques -- CO2 capture, solar/wind power, water recycling, etc -- as well as those that are growing their own ingredients. I'll let you all know when it happens -- at the very least you can come out and meet the Big Boss -- and tell him to pay me more (and let me travel on those interesting trips). :smilielol:
