No more soaking kegs and carboys for days at a time to get clean... but you will find yourself saving back till you have 3-4 kegs, just so you can clean them all in under 20 min--- ahhahahahahaha. You will never look back, except to ask yourself why you didn't make one sooner!Congrats.

Not sure about hot caustic, but mine has worked great pumping ice water.

Yup, HF stuff is a crap shoot. That's why it's so cheap.

Yeah, I'm stoked. I spent several hours cleaning TWO kegs a few weeks ago. I can't handle that anymore. It's even worse because all my stuff is in the basement and I use the kitchen sink, so i'm running up and down the stairs every 5 minutes. I'm installing a sink and countertop down there to make things go even quicker.

I've had my Harbor Freight 1/2hp pump for a few years now and use it not only for ice water but have used it for dirty water and draining the spa as well. It has worked like a charm. For the price you can buy three of these before you are even close to the price the hardware store asks for a single similar pump. I have a garden hose quick disconnect on mine so I can connect the brewery, or any other hose around the house.

Most of the pumps that the guys in our brew club have will tolerate heat up to 150-160 range before the pump's thermo protector kicks in. I have found that PBW with just hot tap water works real well with all the agitation of the spray that showers inside the keg. If it is brew day, then I'll steal a little sparge water around 150 and have some real fun!

Something along the line of this.

Something along the line of this.

I have the same setup I built at home, but did it all with PVC. I don't even have a spray ball on top, just use straight 1/2" pvc. It works well with both keg and carboy. I didn't build the funky wood thing for the carboy holder, I just use the blue plastic upright carboy holder/drainer thingy I bought from the LHBS for $7.

Something along the line of this.

That is the exact design I used, however I used PVC instead of copper, because it is sooo much cheaper and easier to work with. I made three different length wands with various hole configurations drilled to accommodate kegs and the various sized carboys that I have for about $10.

Got the pump today. I'll have to play around with it this weekend. I have a bunch of kegs to clean, too.

It is actually enjoyable to clean kegs with a pump and hot water recirculating. I let them sit for 10-15 give them a quick swirl with a brush and then clean water and done. Makes it so much easier.
