I want me a swirling whirlpool of death in my kettle. Those little March things are so dinky, they barely get the wort moving while you recirc. I want a pump that will suck one of those dinky little Marchs' into the inlet and spit it out the other side. I must have one.

I'm interested in hearing if you find a pump, ahh not quite to the level mentioned above :rolf: , that does the trick. I too am looking to something better than my March pump for chilling.

I am with ya on being underwhelmed with the whirlpool from the march. I have been working toward stirring with a motor. To me that seems a lot cheaper and simpler than trying to do it with a pump. Plus you are not beating up the wort as bad with the pump.

I'm looking for a big pump, that supports boiling liquids AND is self priming. If you find one of those for a reasonable price, let me know!

When we tore down the DI system, I had a 7 hp SS pump. Couldn't find anybody who wanted it.

Lol....I use it for lots of things. One is recirc. thru a CFC sorta like the whirlpool Chilling method. Here it is hooked up to my keg cleaner. This same system acts also as a wort transfer system when doing large Club batches. I like it. A buddy of mine years and years ago worked for Boulevard Brewery. He got it and rebuilt the entire pump and motor. It sat ununsed and now i use it. Also, my March pumps i use on my rigs are the AC-3CP-MD. Series 3Alot bigger than the 809 by far.

How much does a pump like that cost?

Any recommendations on a pump in between that and the 809 to manage a 3 Sanke keg system?
