I have 1 corny keg that won't get a seal at the lid. I have tried replacing the oring and shimming up the legs for a tighter fit, I have also tried using different lids. It is a problem with the keg not the lids. None of my lids will get a tight fit on that particular keg. The pressure appears to rapidly leak out from around the oring. I thought about trying a good coat of keg lube, but it is leaking a lot so I am not convinced that will be enough. The lid opening doesn't look like it is deformed. Are there any tricks anybody can give to get the keg to seal up?

If a good amount of keg lube and a shot of pressure won't seal it up, do what I did; relegate that keg to storing starsan.

+1. I've got 1 in the bunch that requires keg lube and 10PSI to remain sealed. If either of those 2 conditions are not met it leaks BAD.

I thought I remember seeing that long term storage of starsan in SS will etch the SS.... but since you will never use it for holding beer, it may not matter.MB

+1. Something about the transition zone between the liquid and air on the edge of the keg gets attacked for some reason or another if I'm remembering correctly.

That's what I remember too. I think Palmer may have been the one to bring it up. Didn't somebody split a keg open under pressure one time? I can't imagine how badly that would suck.

I thought I recall someone being baffled about getting a pin hole leak in their keg side wall and scratching their head about it. However as the questioning progressed on trying to figure it out, it turns out they had been using it to hold star san previously and that was right at the transition point for the amount of star san they normally had.Someone else could have split one though.

I'm probably mis-remembering it.

One problem is when you fill the kegs with PBW to clean.Guess where that boundary ends up?Right at the lid seal area.I always fill up to the top. I have a small sheet of acrylic I place over the opening to stop evaporation. No problems yet :knock on wood smiley:
