I’m a big time Bethesda fan. First new IP in >20 years. Todd Howard has eluded to some items that harken back to some of Oblivion’s game play.

Knowing how these play with mods I may need to look into a real gaming PC!!!

Been watching people play the early release online. PC seems to run a lot better than Xbox.

Looks like something I need to pickup (I love Bethesda games)

Isaac, and all his buddies, are going CRAZY over Starfield. He tells me it will eventually be multiplayer.  They all play on XBOX.  Will report back after he downloads this weekend!

As expected, I'm hearing a lot of initial growing pains, especially about very early character progression.

 

I'm about a week maybe two from finishing Valheim, anyway.

I got a little thrill when that Bethesda cog splash popped. I did character gen and played for about an hour - to out a pirate base.

Great fun. Graphics on medium is good enough for me. I played Zork, ffs.

I'm rocking and rolling now.  Got about 35 hours lvl 14.  I've got Sarah fully romanced* and a decent chunk of the UC faction quest finished, plus 'enough' of the main quest to get going. Signed up to be a Freestar Ranger, as well, though I haven't done anything there yet.

I have two powers from the main quest, and I suspect that the missions for more from Vladimir are going to be level gated.  I don't want to rush the main story, anyway.

I also got a free legendary ship and armor from a quest I won't spoil (Mantis, if you wanna Google it). I don't wear the armor because it's not the best for my stealth build, but the ship is a great upgrade from the Frontier.

I have gotten incredibly lucky with loot drops and store inventory, which let me build a really badass stealth sniper.  Specifically, I found a helmet with Chameleon really, really early - like level 5 - that makes me invisible when I'm not moving.  I also found an A-99 in a store that is set up for sniping with a suppressor and the Hitman perk for 15% more damage while aiming.  Add in the 2x sneak attack bonus from stealth and I can one-shot almost everything I'm facing right now in these early missions.  It cost more than the Frontier is worth, and was about 90% of my cash when I bought it, but it's righteous. Last night I found a rare sniper pistol called Elegance in stock at Akila for about $20k that is silenced and armor piercing. It's replacing my suppressed XM-2311 antique that is hard to keep fed with .45 cal rounds.  (I also have an M1911 antique but I never use it.)  I've stopped carrying other weapons now, with the exception of the Cutter.

 

*I don't think you're supposed to be able to finish the Companion quests this early. It was an incredibly difficult fight that I absolutely would NOT have been able to handle without the stealth build. Critters.  Big, tough ones.

You talking difficulty?  I think it's normal.  I started the game and abandoned the character after about an hour of looking around getting a feel for things. I don't remember choosing the difficulty for the second (current) character, so I guess it's whatever the default is.
