Sounds like he goes to the wrong taprooms.

 

ETA:  I still find it funny people harping on hazy IPAs that are "sludge".  At least around me those are going for the most part.  Yeah we have hazy IPAs but not the ones that had sediment up the ass like back when they first started.

Yep. I love them but I would also appreciate a little more variety at some places. So I get that part but calling them sludge is typically inaccurate.

The Zoe-Dog Brewco in Charleston, SC always has 5 diverse beers on tap!!!!!!!

Not around here. Dogfish has resisted and only makes a slightly hazy IPA and a proper fruited sour amongst the normal diverse lineup. Most other small breweries have a complete lineup of either very cloudy (won't even call it hazy anymore) IPAs or sours that appear to be 90% fruit puree.

Occasionally you can get a stout but I hope you like donuts and breakfast cereal in it

Credit where it's due I had a fantastic 4.9% Brown Ale at the Brewing Projekt in Eau Claire, WI. this weekend. One I could drink all day. Great body and clear nutty toasty notes. So good, but yeah, pretty uncommon find these days.

I think we need to remember that beers like that are largely made for the generation that grew up sucking over-sugared yogurt and applesauce from a tube.

I've had some nice sour beers with fruit (e.g. raspberry Berliner Weisse)so certainly no issue there but holy hell that beer has way too much other crap added to it.

I went to the BJCP guidelines and tried to find out where this would be classified. All of the ones close had a note something like...  and still resemble beer

Even if these are delicious drinks (I'll never know) can't they be made at an ice cream shop instead of a brewery?

Yeah, I had a strawberry rhubarb Berliner this past weekend. It was great. Just a little strawberry in the nose and not too much else. No added sweetness, very enjoyable.
