I've been saving up for like 18 months for this moment. I currently have a Asus RTX 2070 Super which has served me well, but I've wanted to have something a little more for a while but just couldn't bring myself to pay the ridiculous scalper prices.

I've been a Nvidia guy for many years but I've really wanted one of the newer AMD Radeon cards. Mainly because it has much better Linux support than Nvidia.

Anywho, I picked up this bad boy. An xfx speedster Merc 319 Core. 16g 6800xt PCIe 4.0.

It's HUGE and heavy! I'll need to get a support bracket for sure.

THO

If they need that much cooling, why not just offer a version with a water block?

There are aftermarket waterbkocks but their like 200.00. I got this bad boy for less than MSRP, but I don't know if I want to drop another 200+ to water cool it yet. It would be 200 for the block and backplate and probably another 100+ for a second radiator (already have an AIO for my 5950x.

I'll have to see how temps are under load. This card is supposed to be damn good at keeping itself cool with the stock fans, but there are also noctua upgrades I can make you help with air cooling too.

I was thinking it should be a stock option for the compact enthusiast

Thanks man!

I really suck at cable management, but i think I did a pretty good job with it. There are 7 120mm fans total in there. Three up top, three in front on the radiator, and one in the back. There are 4 SATA SSDs on the back side.

I'd love to have the patience to clean up the little case header wires, but they don't bother me enough. Lol

Dang! How’d you get a video card for less than MSRP? A few months back i looked at cards to upgrade my kid’s PCs but the upgrade (which wasn’t even a high end card) was more than i paid for the entire PC.

I just checked and 3080s are available to buy on New Egg. So, that's a thing.

Curious to see how the 4080 stacks up when ever it comes out. Not that I have time for gaming, but.... toys.

I got a 3080 for $799 on launch day, but most of my gaming is on PS5 right now. Mostly I bought the RTX for 3D rendering (Blender) but I've been kinda burned out on PC use in general so not much of that going on right now either. In retrospect I probably should have mined some Bitcoin but whatever

I just got an ad from Newegg where they have a MSI 3080 for $799.  All the other models prices are plummeting back to Earth as well.
