For years I have always used CMC two row but I no longer have that option so any thoughts or preference between Rahr ( pale ale or two row) and Briess ( Brewers Malt or Pale ale)?  They are all close in price with the Briess Pale Ale being the most expensive.  I think at this point I am just going to go with Rahr pale ale unless anyone has had bad experience with it.

I was never under the impression that briess was anything great so I'd give Rahr a try.

Definitely Rahr. I think Briess is a big meh. I used Rahr alot after I too couldn't get CMC anymore. Now I use a local place.

Rahr. And the pale ale will have a nice slightly richer maltiness to it. I prefer MO for it, but Rahr pale ale made some really nice ESBs for me.

A local brewery sold me a sack of Rahr North Star Pils for $36. I haven't used it on its own yet to get a good taste but it was about 60% in a sour today.

I'd have to look again but I think I'm getting CMC for about $33-34 per sack.

I was getting Weyerman Pilsner and Simpson GP so the cost was more.  The regular two row was silo grain so no bags of that to buy.

In the end when 4 packs are getting over 20 bucks a sack for 40 or even 50 is still a bargain.

I ended up getting a sack of Barke, 2 Rahr Pale Ale and then there was a mix up and I got Gambrinus Pilsner instead of Weyermann.  Whatever, that will be used for APAs and IPAs anyway.  Now I just need to brew!

I ended up using barke a few months back as a base for an APA and I loved the way that beer came out.  I have more measured out and ready to go for a pilsner if I can get to it this weekend.
