Subject says it all ... For those of you with Hoff Steven's kegs, how do you clean them? I have one that is pretty grimey on the inside. It looks like the dip tube has already been removed (got it from an old wine maker). For the 1st major clean what did you use? PBW and heating the keg? Caustic? I did some googling and found one page that talked about using a custom pressure washer wand.I would like to use this as a Gueuze barrel if I can get the inside cleaned out. Thanks and Cheers!

I'd start with a soak in PBW or Oxyclean. Give it a really good soak.

+1 to Deerslyr. I use a hoff stevens as a primary, and they are pretty easy to clean IMO since you can look in the bung hole with a light for major dirt. Hot PBW/Oxy soak will rid yourself of the major stuff. If needed repeat till the big stuff is gone. I got a solid green silicon bung from a wine making shop that I use on it. With the silicon bung I can use boiling water to sanitize, so no worries on wee beasties with heat and time to kill the nasties.

After you do your PBW/Caustic wash, I'd highly recommend an acid wash as well. Phosphoric works wonders. If you can't find that, double (or even triple) strength Star San or Saniclean will do a pretty good job.
