How much does the conversion for fermentation cost? If the 8 gallon one is only $1, seems like it would be a good snag to move to a SS fermenter. These 5 and 8 gallon sankey kegs came up on craigslist. I don't know how much they cost yet, but assuming I can get them for real cheap (and that they're legal), what could I utilize them for. I've seen the Sankey Fermentation conversion kit, but it's pretty expensive. These kegs don't seem like the right dimensions and volume for use as a kettle as well. Could they be easily filled and used in a kegerator (assuming I have a kegerator)? Any ideas?

With Thermowell it's $79. I don't think the kegs are a dollar, though I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. Usually most people put a dollar when selling more than one item in same post. How much does the conversion for fermentation cost? Good luck. even if you can pick up the kegs cheap they would work well for small specialty batches.a club memeber just picke up a conversion kit like the link you posted he loves it so far.cheers.With Thermowell it's $79. Nice. After my OP I found this post on another forum. I'd much rather use a carboy cap too... I'd likely be able to fit three 5 gallon kegs in my temp-controlled chest freezer, but may have to add a collar for height. Either way, this could be a three-fold improvement from the carboy I'm currently using. You can even just use an orange carboy cap to ferment in it.
