you could do it with your hands if you were really strongYou need the proper wrench to remove the ring retaining the tap on the tower. This wrench will loosen the ring without scratching the ring. Then you can disassemble the tapfor cleaning. To get at the rest, just pop the top cap off the tower. This will let you remove the insulationinside the tower so you can access the nuts holding the shank in place. Tight fit though.I replace my tubing every year. A few stepless clamps and Bobs your uncle.

I have this one: LINKedit: I don't think the ones you linked to are the right ones. see the right side of the wrench I posted? that thing goes in those little holes on the ring. the left side is used to take the nut off the inside part of the shank. Is this the right part?https://www.micromat...es-cid-448.html

that's the other option. I do however like my specialty tool b/c the other end just barely fits in the tower to loosen the nuts on the shanks. I don't think a lot of regular wrenches would be able to squeeze in there. You don't really need that wrench to remove the ring. You just don't want to score up the ring with the teeth of whatever tool you do use. You could wrap it with a towel (or whatever) and use a regular wrench. Remember not to have kegs connected to it!

I've def experienced this before (fortunately not on my taps). It can really hose up a decent beer.My IPA tastes WAY better now.

Did you get the correct tool and, if not, how did you get it off. I have the tool for the ring, but not the wrench part, not a lot of working space inside the tower.I now use my kegerator fridge with the tower as a fermentation chamber and use cobra taps in the garage fridge. The one plus of cobra taps is easy cleaning and hose replacement.I got it off finally. It was getting really groaty in there. I think that was giving off flavors in my beer too. Thanks everyone.
