I was looking for a pinball game to play on retroarch (settled on psycho pinball for the Genesis).

While looking for the game I learned about virtual pinball. I never knew this was a thing. I am thinking of building a cabinet. I have an old (2015 ish) laptop without an OS. Plus I have a 27 inch monitor that could be used for the playing surface. It looks like both future pinball and virtual pinball is windows only. Future pinball has not been updated since 2010 but still has an active community. Is there a way to obtain a bootable cheap version of xp? It will run on 7 or 10 but I question the hardware. If not I will be looking at running mint or Ubuntu and wine.

I have never had the desire to build an arcade cabinet. I am happy with using a game pad. But having a small virtual pinball machine in May basement sounds like fun.

Has anyone built one?
