Looking at my inventory I have hops from as far back as the 2013 harvest. Those are getting tossed regardless(Summit and Belma), but wondering how far back should I go? Everything is frozen and vacuum sealed. At this point for the amount of brewing I will probably be doing going forward I don't want to risk anything. I'm thinking keep everything form 2017 and newer. Maybe the couple lbs. that I have from 2016 that I haven't opened. That would still leave me with about 15lbs. and even that will take me a bit to get through with my projected brewing plans. I think a triple/imperial/whatever you want to call it IPA is in order.

I'm in a similar boat here. Cleaning and organizing a lot of my stuff in preparation to get brewing again for the first time in almost 2 years. I know my hop freezer has a decent amount of stuff from '13 and '14 that will probably get pitched but there is a fair amount of unopened stuff from '15-'16 that I imagine is still quite good. Would like to hear differing thoughts if anyone disagrees.

Really?! Well now I don't feel as bad. Last I brewed was June 2019.

The hops I purged from my freezer last week were mainly ones where the bags (Foodsaver) had lost their seal, and the hops inside smelled and/or looked off. A couple I tossed where I recalled using them and the resulting beer wasn't that great; one involved some Columbus that had lost its punch and the last beer I made with hops from that bag was noticeably underbittered.
I'd say that if the bags are still properly sealed, you're probably good, and if you're willing to open them, take a sniff. If they smell/look good, then no need to toss.

Thanks guys.
Yeah, the last time was like June or July of '18, I'd have to look.

I threw out some 2013 Belma on Saturday, too. Probably tossed around total 4lbs that have been living in my freezer for too long. Finally used some of the unopened packs of 2016 hops yesterday,

I think Ken would tell everyone to throw out any Belma they have

He wouldn't be the only one! I tossed 3lbs of that garbage too.

I just completed my purge. Not as bad as I thought. Chucked out about 5lbs worth of stuff. The oldest thing I kept was 7oz of Nugget from 2015. That still leaves me with 17lbs. worth.
