Saw this on HomebrewFinds

from this link https://www.morebeer...html?a_aid=hbf pick the 10# bag and put 9 in your cart.  At checkout apply the code MORESANTA and you will get 15% off and free shipping on top of it.  I just tried and it was $61.12 in my cart.  Pretty good deal IMO.

I agree that's good.  It's no "5 pounds of Hallertau for $5" but it's pretty good.   How's the Viking malt... any good?

I have some of the Pale Ale malt.  Not bad but not outstanding either.  It's a bit dark too.  I used it in a SMASH with citra and wasn't impressed but I think the problem was that I bombed it with the citra.  Using as part of the base malt it's been fine IMO.  That said I just ordered 8 bags of the Xtra Pale

that malt is serviceable- not great, not that bad either. i'd use it again if i get a good deal on it again.  i got a bag from morebeer for .72 cents a pound, for a 55# bag.

I poked around the internets to see what people have to say about Viking malt. Consistently the subject of color and it produces darker beers than what their L specification.

The amount of excessive color in my opinion was not a big deal. Then again, I am mot distracted by my beer color. That is probably the last thing on my list I worry about.

The flavor opinions went from OK, good enough to pretty good stuff.

If I got 50 pounds of a base malt for $54 shipped I would be very happy.

The pale has a smell that I have a hard time describing after milling.  It carries over to the mash but seems to be  gone in the finished product.  I swear, even after 7 years of no smoking my beer nose and palate are jacked up - strange.  I won't judge anymore.  I can tell if beer is good but....................

I haven't opened any of the Xtra Pale yet
