Making this in 2 weeks; kegging an ESB next week and harvesting some 1028 London Ale that will be re-homed into this beer.

5lb Maris Otter

5lb pils

2lb flaked barley (may sub in some flaked oats for part or all of the flaked barley)

1lb C60

1lb Muntons chocolate malt

Magnum (whole, bittering) to ~40-ish IBUs

EKG or First Gold (or some combo of the 2) for some light late additions, to ~10ish IBUs

1028 will handle the heavy lifting in the primary.

Looking for ~8% abv and ~50-ish IBUs for 5.5 gal in the primary.

Since I've got a small backlog of beer in various stages of fermenting/cold-crashing/kegged and waiting for an open tap, this porter will get a bit of aging before being poured.

Loking forward to this one sometime next month when (hopefully) it starts cooling off outside and fall sets in.  Will be interested in putting it up against some grilled wings.

Why the pils?

Why the pils?

I've found that I like Maris Otter best when matched with an equal amount of pils/2-row.  MIght try an all Maris Otter mash one of these days.

And with the amount of flaked barley and crystal malt in this mash, the extra enzymes from the pils malt won't hurt none. B)

It sounds nice.  Just wondering since you were going over the pond style.
