Last week, we cleaned out our garage for the first time in several years.  Long overdue, purged a lot of junk we didn't need, did some much-needed reorganizing, etc.  A big success, garage looks much better, life is good.

Lo and behold, during our cleanup/out, I found a box for a burner head for my turkey fryer.  Opened the box for a look, and what do I see? A brand-fecking-new burner head.

Fast-forward to today.

A few minutes ago, I swapped out the existing burner head for the new one, hooked everything up, did a test light, and all was well.  Cool.

I remembered that I bought it from Amazon, so, being curious, I looked to see how long ago I ordered it.

The answer?   2014.

SMH.  I've been using my existing burner head for 5 fecking years with a brand-new one sitting on a shelf, 2 feet away from my brew area in our garage.

I need a beer.

At least you found it and didn't just throw it away!

Truth.  The old one is now in the trash bin for next week's trash pickup.

While we were cleaning the garage last week, I saw the box, thinking it was ready for the trash.

Before I could give it the toss, my wife stopped me and said I should check it first.  She (as most wives apparently do) knew something I did not.

Glad I checked; might've otherwise thrown out a brand-new burner head.  No thank you, not on my watch.

So this weekend I found out I did something boneheaded ... left a fermenter in the hatchway with beer and yeast still in it.  It has been there for 6+ weeks and it has been HOT.  It was not pleasant!

Yikes.  Out of curiousity, what was the batch intended to be? (Don't say "beer", I figured that part. :D )

It was a mosaic apa, really good beer! What was in the fermenter was the yeast and last bit of wort that needed to be dumped. I got a picture if anyone wants a look, much less gross than I expected.
