Goddamnit - I'm trying to avoid getting the campaign books because I know I won't have the willpower to not open them while I'm playing.

But the entire Waterdeep 1-20 campaigns for 30% of the total cover price?  I have to get them.

It's kind of a ridiculous sale. Some of those books are $50 and going for $13

I highly recommend both Xanathar's Guide and Volo's.   Xanathar has an extra 3 subclasses for each class, extra feats, and a bunch of background info you can randomize for flavor.

Volo's is just cool for flavor but gives you some cool monster race options to play.  Like... who doesn't want to turn a Kenku into a badass? lol
