I ferment my beers in Ale Pails, and I use an Autosiphon to rack the beer from bucket to keg, but on kegging day, I figured there had to be a better way to reduce the amount of crud that the AS picked up, without me having to stand there the entire time.
A couple of years back, I saw a stray bungie cord sitting on my brew bench, and I had an epiphany: (this pic is from a batch I kegged earlier this morning)
Using this setup, the AS can be easily moved as the beer siphons, to stay just above the yeast cake, without the AS slipping out of place.
I now get less sediment than ever in the keg, and the resulting beers clear faster (I do use Biofine, but I was still getting way too much crud in the keg).
Just thought I'd share.
