making my scottish 80/- v2 on sunday hopefully.Last time around I used GP, C90, and RB. This time I'm using GP, C65, C120, and RB b/c I don't have any C90 and I have some C120 that's already milled that I want to get rid of. I'm using about the same amounts of everything (total crystal is still about the same, equal parts C65 and C120). Any predictions for how this will compare to last time around?I'm getting this weekend started off right...brewing 50bbls of Oatmeal Stout this morning...mashed the first 25bbls in about 20 minutes ago. Also 4.5bbls Black Sky Stout Porter and 4.5bbls Cardinal Direction Abbey Dubbel on Sunday and Monday.Who else is brewing?

My guess is that it will turn out slightly sweeter. Maybe more 65 than 120?making my scottish 80/- v2 on sunday hopefully.Last time around I used GP, C90, and RB. Not a bad idea - the one I have on tap now is excellent but I wouldn't mind it being a little more caramel flavored. My guess is that it will turn out slightly sweeter. Maybe more 65 than 120?

Perhaps collect some of the first runnings and boil that down a bit before adding it back to the boil kettle? Just a thought. Not a bad idea - the one I have on tap now is excellent but I wouldn't mind it being a little more caramel flavored.

yeah - I was thinking about trying this out. I'm a little bit worried about using a small pot I use for cooking regular food though in case there are remnants that could mess up the flavor of my beer. I have a steamer that's pretty much only had brocolli in it so that seems safe. How much volume do I need to start with for the boil down?Perhaps collect some of the first runnings and boil that down a bit before adding it back to the boil kettle? Just a thought.

Not me! I have a rare 3-day weekend -- a buddy is in town from the States and there's no yeast ready right now in the brewery. But, even if I did a double batch this weekend, it wouldn't come close to what you're doing! Our small system is about 2 barrels and our big system is about 8 -- 50 is just a dream!I'm getting this weekend started off right...brewing 50bbls of Oatmeal Stout this morning...mashed the first 25bbls in about 20 minutes ago. I'm not sure either. I was not satisfied with my last Scottish, and thought about doing this as well. Might want to start a new thread on the BB on this topic so we don't hijack the current one.yeah - I was thinking about trying this out. Haha...The system at the Schlafly Bottleworks can handle about 33bbls, but how much we make depends on the gravity of the beer, our lauter tun and grist case aren't big enough to accomodate a full batch of a higher gravity beer. But my system at Mattingly is 1.5bbls, so I'll be brewing 6 times this weekend...I wish it could be done in 2...Not me!
