With Session Beer Day right around the corner (April 7th), it's time to visit one of Drew's absolute favorite beer styles - Mild. This blandly named style has a long and interesting history with many variations of what it means to be mild. So how about digging into one of the best beers you can quaff over a long session. Flat caps optional, but awesome beer is mandatory.

I really enjoyed listening to this show. But I just don't dig on the English styles. That said, it inspires me to generate an unconventional mild of some sort be it the higher gravity type or something low, where I won't bust the wallet on more exotic grains.....

Well It was a nudge at Denny to get back working on his. I think he stared one probably 2 years ago now and I remember it going through 3 or 4 revisions and then got put on the back burner.

For an American mild, those are NOT the right ingredients!

I gotta tell ya that the Mecca site is pretty interesting....
I've tried everything they make and it's far and away the best malt I've ever used. There are a number of other craft maltsters here and they make really good stuff, too. But nothing holds a candle to Mecca Grade. For the American mild, I'm gonna go with a combo of Lamonta and Valrona. Use debittered leaf from YCH and 1450. Should get me closer than I've been so far.

https://fhsteinbart....e-estate-malts/So the Pelton is a good lager malt? Where does one buy the Mecca malt from? Their site doesn't appear to have a way to buy direct.
I have not used it, wrong coast. I use Valley Malt when I want to go down this road.

The Corvalis brew store seems to have a little better prices....
I truthfully just went with the first one I found.

Before I... "Go to Mecca" I have several grains to use up. For my Mild considerations (as of today) what do you think about a combo of Red-X and Golden Promise? Again both on hand. I can taste the richness of both that might help in an otherwise thinner beer.
I also have Barke; Vienna, Pils and Munich.
I truthfully just went with the first one I found.
Mecca only lists the 2 AFAIK

I went to that first one and it would be $110 for 50 pounds of it.
Craft malt is not cheap.
