Pears in the mash?

Something seems wrong with this. But you put pumpkin in there, right? Should I try it?

You may want to investigate if any of the chemicals in pears could have an adverse effect to your mash. Why not add them to the end of the boil or to secondary?

I'm not saying pears in the mash wouldn't work - I just don't know.

Yeah, it might work, but we're brewing soon, and I don't want to have to research anything right now. Seems like in my mind it would be a waste of perfectly good pears to not treat them more gently.

Pears are pretty mild. I'd think you'd need a lot. Can you buy pear juice?

I really doubt any "pear character" would survive the boil and fermentation. I'd suggest either adding pears or pear juice to the secondary.
