+1 on the nice tippy MLT. I just haul my cooler out to the compost area and dump which is a challenge in the snow. I didn't start this thread to try to prove indoor is better than outdoor for everyone, it just is for me. I was just happy to get in a brewing session that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.

Why? Are you overly protective of your cooler's well being? Do you think the screws would hurt it's feelings?

I would just want to be able to easily take it off the stand b/c I like to bring the cooler inside the night before brewing so that it's a little bit warmer to start with. I also think it might be a little tricky to clean out well up there and to add in grains, strike water, etc.

That's right brother, as long as you keep those brew sessions rollin', right?. I prefer brewing outside, but it sure is nice to have the option. Thanks for the tippy-love guys. I also hauled the cooler (grain and all) outside until I needed a new stand and decided to get tippy while I was at it. It was a quick 4 beer project I knocked together. I didn't want to put the screws in the cooler either, but couldn't find a clean way to do it with straps. The screws only go through the outer layer and I don't think I'll need to take it off after I seal up and paint the wood stand. After I dump the grain, I roll it outside and spray it off right on the stand.I kinda like the way my braid dangles as it gets hosed off.

I don't want to take over the thread, but here's a few pics for ya. It's a pretty basic gravity set-up. I love the electric HLT - 8 gallons to 177 in 30 minutes.

I was thinking that putting bungees through the handles would probably do a pretty good job of keeping it on the platform. You've got me thinking about how to add it to my system now.

That's a pretty bitchin' setup you've got there. It almost looks like you are fly sparging but you mention having a SS braid so I guess not...

Thanks man. The cvpc pipe is just an attempt to spread out the strike water, but it was too slow so I yanked it off. I may try drilling it out more next time. I like to keep it simple. I don't think I'm ready for pumps yet, although I do have HERMS dreams every now and again.

I wouldn't think you would get a good rinsing (at least with the big rectangular coolers) but if it works for you
